  • PEEP TOES FOR THE OFFICE: IN OR OUT?

    Posted on 08/11/2014 by | 0 comments

Peep Toes for the Office: In or Out?

From top to bottom, left to right: Zara, £49; Enzo Angiolini, £59; Clarks, £58.50; Nine West, £79; Restricted, £50; Nine West, £79; Nine West, £79; BP, £60.

Strappy, open-toe shoes are everywhere! So I thought I’d pose the question to you girls: Do you wear peep toe shoes (or sandals) to the office?

There are as many different types of workplaces as there are jobs. I’m in and out of court frequently, and I (unfortunately) wouldn’t dream of wearing peep toe shoes. I’ve been in more casual workplaces, though, where they’d fly. A little peep of the toes on an otherwise casual pair of shoes never hurt anyone. So what do you think?

Also, has anyone else noticed that platform pumps are everywhere? (A particularly egregious pair, from Asos, at left.) I had to work very hard to find non-platform shoes for the roundup above. We’re not all Kardashians, and not all of us want an extra 5 inches in height. Sigh.

  • GENTLEMEN’S LOAFERS FOR WOMEN: WOULD YOU WEAR IT?

    Posted on 08/10/2014 by | 0 comments

One of the stranger trends I’m seeing this fall is taking the slippers that belong to traditional men’s formal wear and making casual versions for women.

I’m not opposed to a pair of these for weekends with some cropped jeans. I dig the tomboy feel of it. But what about for the office?

If I were to wear them to work, I’d probably opt for a pair in a conservative color and wear them with tights, a pencil skirt, and a button down.

What about you? Would you rock these at work, or ever?

  • IVANKA TRUMP, MAKER OF SHOES

    Posted on 30/09/2014 by | 0 comments

Ivanka Trump is the newest celebrity to offer her own line of shoes. Jessica Simpson’s line has been wildly successful (people say they’re actually very comfortable), and now Ms. Simpson is rumoured to be worth £1 billion. So I can understand the desire to jump on THAT bandwagon.

The truth is… I actually like Ivanka Trump’s shoes. Whereas Jessica Simpson’s shoes are trendier, more “going out”-style, Ivanka Trump’s work for the office.
For example, the Annulio flats (£120) seem to me the perfect work flats. Slight heel, minimalist detailing, lightly pointed toe.
The Indico pumps (£120) are the Annulios with a higher heel. Classic, again with a button detail on the heel.
And the Gurdia pumps (£120) are so chic. Too high for all-day wear (at least for me), but I love these for a business dinner or dressier work event. Love them.
